Jean Dufresne

There is a famous German book written by Jean Dufresne in 1884, often attributed as the first Pool Checkers book, since it (allegedly) uses the same rules. The book was translated into English by Richard White, who also changed? the notation to numbers. Interestingly “Jean Dufresne” was a pseudonym, the real name was Dr. E. S. Freund, the author of many chess books.
